Senior Development Manager

Lead the charge in shaping Nordic Solar’s greenfield expansion in Germany!

About the Position

With a proven track record of developing, building, and operating large-scale solar projects across Europe, we are now strengthening our in-house expertise to expand our footprint in Germany. Join us in driving this exciting growth—where you’ll shape market strategy, influence key decisions, and make a lasting impact in Germany’s renewable energy sector.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Development Manager to lead our greenfield expansion and drive the development of utility-scale solar PV & BESS projects. From land origination to securing permits and grid connections, you will play a key role in advancing projects to ready-to-build (RTB) status.

As our first team member in Germany (preferably based in the Hamburg region), you’ll enjoy the autonomy to drive projects forward while staying closely connected to our expert team in Copenhagen. With the support of a strong, experienced team of nine professionals, you will have all the resources needed to succeed.

You will report directly to the Director of Development and can expect monthly trips to Denmark, along with regular site visits across Germany as part of this dynamic role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source PV + BESS land opportunities and assess feasibility with the Danish team.
  • Negotiate land leases and secure project sites.
  • Work with subcontractors to manage grid applications and liaise with TSOs/DSOs.
  • Work with subcontractors to prepare and submit environmental impact assessments, and permit applications
  • Manage relationships with authorities, and drive project progress
  • Lead cross-functional project meetings and collaborate with development, M&A, legal, and EPC teams in Denmark on project matters.
  • Prepare decision-making materials and presentations for senior management.

About You

  • Financial background with a technical skillset, or an engineering background with a commercial mindset, ideally in the renewable energy sector.
  • 10+ years of experience in project development.
  • Strong background in solar PV, wind, or BESS projects.
  • Expertise in permitting, land lease negotiations, EIAs, and grid connection in the german market.
  • Excellent project and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluent German and English speaker (full professional proficiency).
